About Arielle

I’m here to help you get curious about the practice of yoga while making it accessible and fun.

Namaste, yogis! My name is Arielle (she/her) and I was born and raised on Treaty 6 territory in Edmonton, Canada. I began practicing yoga in 2010 as a way to maintain my flexibility and strength after a 13 year stint as a ballet dancer. As my physical practice deepened, so did my mental dependence on the healing power of yoga as I struggled with depression, anxiety and body dysmorphia through most of my twenties.

Two life-changing trips — five months of backpacking South America in 2016 and a yoga retreat in Costa Rica in 2018 — cemented my desire to be a healer and bring the full breadth of this practice to my family and friends. When COVID-19 hit in 2020 and the possibility of a planned in-person training abroad was eliminated, I enrolled in the Uplifted Yoga 200 hour online training, a registered school with Yoga Alliance with a strong focus on alignment in Hatha and Vinyasa yoga. I have also completed 30 hours of specialty Yin Yoga training from Yoga With Kassandra, and working on further training in pre- and post-natal yoga.

Let’s practice together!

The fitness industry can be an alienating place, so through striking out on my own as a yoga teacher I hope to provide a kinder and more accepting space for those who are disillusioned by the current Western “yoga fitness” and “spiritual wellness” landscapes. I maintain a collaborative approach and am always open to feedback on how the space I hold for my students could be better. Navigating through life can be awkward and uncomfortable, but through this healing practice, we can do it together. I can’t wait to connect with you.

“Let’s choose awkward, brave and kind. And let’s choose each other.”

– Brené Brown

Why “YogiVino”?

With wine as my other passion, I pursued my WSET Level 1 in Wine in November 2018 and Level 2 in July 2020, and received additional certification as a Canadian Wine Scholar in November 2020. I’m hoping to become WSET Certified in 2022. I’m all about removing the snobbery (and sexism) that comes with the wine world and making it easy for people to understand and enjoy!

Spiritual Lineage Acknowledgment

I have deep gratitude in being able to share in this sacred practice that is not part of my own spiritual lineage. This practice began in Ancient India and I am reverent to the generations of yogis who have passed on this practice for thousands of years. I also honour my own teachers who have in turn brought me to this space.

Land Acknowledgment

I practice and teach yoga on traditional Treaty 6 territory — traditional meeting grounds, gathering place, and travelling route for the Cree, Saulteaux, Blackfoot, Métis, Dene and Nakota Sioux. I acknowledge the many First Nations, Métis and Inuit whose footsteps have marked these lands for generations.
